On its own, Photoshop CS2 gives professional photographers a good reason to upgrade, largely because of the new version's support for Camera Raw 3.0.

My understanding is that if you own two computers then you can install software on both but are not allowed to run them both at the same time. I recently upgraded from the last Powerbook 1.67Ghz w/ 2GB to the MBP C2D 2.16Ghz w/ 2GB.
I can tell you that the new machine flies in comparison even under ros. I'm so happy I doubt I'd bother to upgrade to CS3 for speed/stability reasons alone. New features may temp me however. One word of warning, my girlfriend has a MBP 2Ghz 1GB and is painfully slow switching apps, I'm guessing due to ram, extra gig is esential in my book. Mines the very latest 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 1680 x 1050 resolution 2GB memory 160GB hard drive.
If yours flies mine should.rocket. I can't wait.
